Before students can master the requisite skills for effective writing in any genre or for any content area, they must develop a sense of voice or authorship that only comes through extensive practice. To help them do that, this activity includes the option of two simple pre-writing strategies that help students write either descriptive or narrative texts.
Students gain practice in writer’s craft, narrative text, details, event sequence, routine writing, revising and editing, and adjusting for task/purpose/audience. They’ll also practice speaking and listening skills and conversation.
